Improv TV show Whose Line is it Anyway? is returning to TV. The ABC show, popularized by Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie and hosted by Drew Carey, will return this summer on The CW. Drew Carey will not play host in the new version.
The new host will be The Talk‘s Aisha Tyler. Each episode will have a guest improviser joining the original cast. While no word on if Carey will appear, I do hope he does. Carey is a big fan of improv, having a short-lived Game Show Network improv show, Drew Carey’s Improv-a-ganza, which reunited him with the Whose Line regulars. The show was very similar to Whose Line, but played more like a live show than a show for TV.
The original ABC show ran for 8 seasons and provided some of the funniest moments on TV (Arctic Tern anyone?). Let’s hope the new version last s just as long.
