Well, the rumors that Steve Carell will be reprising his role as Michael Scott on The Office are circulating again, even after executive producer Greg Daniels has denied it several times. Daniels has stated, “I think Steve felt, and I agree, that the ‘Goodbye, Michael’ episode was his goodbye and he didn’t want to overshadow the ending that all the other characters deserved.”
TV Line is reporting that Carell will not have a major appearance in the finale, but only a cameo. Carell’s reps are denying any involvement.
The finale, which airs on May 16th, has also just been given an extra 15 minutes to the original hour-long runtime.
The episode will take place several months after the airing of the Dunder Mifflin documentary has been shooting for nine seasons.
Dunder Mifflin’s past and present employees will come together for a wedding and a final round of interviews.
Mindy Kaling, Rachael Harris, Joan Cusack, Malcolm Barrett, Mike Schur, Bobby Ray Shafer, Andy Buckley, Matt Jones, Ed Begley, Jr., Dakota Johnson, and B.J. Novak, have all been confirmed as guest stars.
