In the world of “Who thought this would be a good idea?” news, Comedy Central has picked up a pilot based on the independent movie Waiting. If you haven’t seen Waiting, it is a movie about the food service industry. Basically, everything you ever worried about happening to your food at a chain restaurant actually does happen.
Waiting follows the employees at Shenaniganz chain restaurant as they gossip, make fun of customers, and avert boredom and adulthood with their antics. The production is from Lionsgate, with Rob McKittrick as executive producer-director-writer, with Jeff Balis and Thomas Augsberger also executive producing.
The first movie was funny enough. It was like a Clerks for the food service industry. The straight-to-DVD follow-up, Still Waiting, was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. I do not see how this is going to be a good idea. The spit-in-food jokes will surely get old quick.
