It’s been a while since I’ve heard any Torchwood news. In fact, I thought I read that this project was dead, but apparently it’s back on. Torchwood, the Doctor Who spinoff from the BBC, is coming stateside and has been making some progress.
Kelly Manners is joining the eagerly anticipated series as a producer. Manners had producer credits on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse and other shows.
Also, though Starz has not yet announced a Torchwood: The New World premiere date, sources say the network currently expects to introduce Captain Jack stateside in July. Production begins on the show’s 10 episodes next month.
Surprisingly, I was a huge fan of the BBC series. Like Doctor Who, it was cheesy fun, but in a more X-Files way than Doctor Who’s time travel stories. I can’t wait to see how Starz handles the US version.
