Ok, not really. But ABC did order a pilot starring Edgar Allan Poe. What is the plot of the show? Well, POE is a crime procedural following Edgar Allan Poe as the world’s very first detective, using unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston.
Chris Hollier penned the script and will serve as supervising producer, with Dan Lin as executive producer. Warner Bros. and Lin Pictures are behind the project.
Call me crazy but I think that sounds like a really good idea. I can imagine some really dark themes, they’d have to be with a figure like Poe, and really interesting stories. We’ve seen the same old crime stories over and over with Law and Order, CSI, and NCIS.
It will be interesting to see what kind of crime stories they can come up with in the past. Not to mention recreating 1840’s Boston should look fantastic. I do wonder why they chose to place it in Boston and not Baltimore though.
This show will definitely wind up on my must watch list.
I think it will be cool. Reminds me of the Robert Downey Jr ‘Sherlock Homes’ reboot…. sort of taking a modern, cool look back. And it will be nice to have a crime show that isn’t another CSI clone.
Did you hear about the Pan Am show? I think it is taking place in the 50s/60s. Psyched about that.
Yeah, Pan Am sounds interesting.
The one I think has the most promising idea, but won’t work because it’s on NBC, is the Playboy Club TV show. I think it will be too restrictive on network TV.
