Ben Lawson, of ABC’s defunct The Deep End, will be joining the cast of USA’s Covert Affairs in a recurring role.
Lawson will play Dr. Scott Weiss, a charming and handsome Doctors Without Borders-type physician Annie meets when she takes her niece, Chloe, to the emergency room. Passionate about his work, Scott understands Annie’s devotion to her job, even if he doesn’t know what that job actually is.
If you’re unfamiliar with the USA spy drama, Covert Affairs was the #1 new series on cable last summer among P18-49. In the show, we meet Annie Walker (Piper Perabo), a young CIA trainee who is suddenly thrust into the inner sanctum of the agency after being promoted to field operative. While it appears that she has been hand-picked for her exceptional linguistic skills, it may be something from her past that her CIA bosses are really after. The show also stars Christopher Gorham, Peter Gallagher, Anne Dudek, Kari Matchett and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
Rena Sofer has also been cast as Gina, Arthur’s (Peter Gallagher) smart, kind-hearted ex-wife who re-enters his life to offer advice as he deals with the political fallout from Lisa’s (Emmanuelle Vaugier) media assault.
I thought the first season of the show was excellent and can’t wait for season 2, which premieres June 7th on USA.
