NBC has renewed bubble comedies Community and Parks and Recreation for a third and fourth season respectively. I was worried that Community, the best show that you’re not watching, would not come back. I’m so excited that it is and can’t wait to see what next season has in store. Parks & Rec, on the other hand, I can’t stand. So many people tell me it’s funny but I could never get into it. My hatred of it probably stems from how annoying I find Amy Poehler. It’s a shame, too, as I love Rashida Jones.
In some less surprising news, NBC has also given the green light for another season, its 8th, of The Office. Will the show survive without Steve Carrel and his character Michael Scott? I’m willing to give it a shot. The writing has been so great this year and it’s been the funniest it has been in years.
From NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt:
I am so pleased to renew these three outstanding comedies which are all at the top of their game creatively. Along with 30 Rock, they represent the best of what the NBC comedy brand stands for in terms of originality, wit, and sophistication. The Office continues to fire on all cylinders on the most competitive night of television; Parks and Recreation has come into its own this season as the rightful companion to The Office; and Community is one of the freshest comedies on any network and a solid foundation for Thursday night.”
