ABC’s Pickups and Cancellations

abc logoMy mom always told me to rip the bandaid off fast, so let’s get the bad news over with. Fans of Brothers and Sisters, Mr. Sunshine, No Ordinary Family, Off the Map, Detroit 1-8-7 and V, I have bad news for you. Your shows will not be coming back. Some of these are no surprise. Pretty much the entire cast of No Ordinary Family have pilots booked already. Off the Map was pulled almost as soon as it aired. Mr. Sunshine I think could have been given more of a chance. It mostly aired after Modern Family reruns and never had a chance to find an audience. It got better with each episode.

Now for the good news. ABC has renewed reality show Shark Tank, freshman comedy Happy Endings, and freshman drama Body of Proof. Of these three renewals, I’ve only seen Happy Endings and find it to be quite funny at times. Damon Wayans, Jr is fantastic.

Now that we know what’s coming back, what pilots have been ordered by ABC? First up is Pan Am, a period piece a la Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club which features Pan Am airlines. The show stars Christina Ricci.

The previously titled Good Christian Bitches has been renamed Good Christian Belles and revolves around a recent divorcee who relocates to Dallas with her kids. This show stars Leslie Bibb.

ABC has also picked up a couple of new comedies, including one from James Van Der Beek entitled Apt 23 (previously called Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apt 23) and a Tim Allen comedy entitled Last Man Standing.

ABC has also picked up the pilots The River, Scandal, Revenge, Suburgatory, Work It, and Once Upon a Time.
