Jon Hamm will direct the season 5 premiere of Mad Men. “The wheels have officially been set in motion to make that happen,” Hamm tells TVLine. “It’s a very exciting challenge that I’m looking forward to with a mixture of utter fear and excitement.”

LaMonica Garrett has signed on to play Deputy Sheriff Cane in Sons of Anarchy.

Cheryl Cole, the fellow Brit X Factor judge who followed Simon Cowell to the US offshoot, has reportedly been ousted from Fox series by none other than Nicole Scherzinger — aka the former Pussycat Doll who was set to serve as the American edition’s co-host. TVLine has more.

Frances Conroy and Alexandra Breckenridge have joined the cast of Ryan Murphy’s FX pilot, American Horror Story. They will be playing the same character. The actresses will play a housekeeper, albeit at different stages in her life, who haunts the residence at the cold, black heart of the drama.

Martin Short and Aidan Quinn are the latest additions to the seventh season of Showtime’s Weeds. The new season jumps forward in time and takes place in a different location as last season.

Bones spinoff The Finder is recasting the part played by Saffron Burrows in the pilot.

Billy Brown has been added to the cast for the upcoming season of Dexter. He will play a detective for the Miami PD.

VH1 is reviving its cult hit Pop Up Video after a near 10-year hiatus.
