Daily for 6-1-2011

Andrea Anders, formally of Mr. Sunshine and the underrated Better of Ted, will appear on USA’s new show Necessary Roughness. Anders will play Laura, a PR exec that a sports team hires to rehab its image.

It’s official: Glee’s Jane Lynch will host the Emmys. “Jane was my first – and only – choice as the host for this year’s Primetime Emmys, and I am glad she said ‘yes,’” said executive producer Mark Burnett. “She has incredible comedic timing, and is a charismatic, talented actress whose energy leaps off the screen and stage. I am thrilled and excited to have her as our host.”

Gavin Rossdale, the lead singer of Bush, will appear on Burn Notice. Rossdale plays Armand, a wealthy and powerful villain with a hand in nefarious projects all over the world.

Think that The Event should have been renewed? Well, EW has learned that SyFy is considering whether to develop the second season into a miniseries. I don’t know about this. I thought The Event was a good show (though I haven’t watched the final 6 episodes) but why prolong the ending of the series just to answer questions left by the series’ demise? Is it worth it to SyFy?

Josh Lucas is in final negotiations to play the lead in NBC’s midseason drama The Firm, based on the hit Paramount feature starring Tom Cruise. The series would pick up 10 years after the events in the movie ended.

Eliza Dushku will appear on USA’s White Collar. She will appear in the 9th episode of the 3rd season, which begins next Tuesday, June 7th.

Speaking of Dushku, she will also be appearing in an online motion web-comic for Torchwood. Torchwood: Web of Lies will consist of 10 3-minute episodes and will launch sometime before Miracle Day launches on July 8th.
