Here’s your daily for 6/21/2011.

Jason Patric has been cast in the lead of the FX drama pilot Powers. Based on the comic book by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, the police procedural is set in a world where superpowers are real and revolves around the Powers division of the police force as detectives investigate crimes involving those with special abilities. Lucy Punch has been cast as the rookie partner to Patric’s detective.

Jake Gyllenhaal will be joining host Bear Grylls to kick off six new episodes of Man Vs. Wild Mondays on Discovery beginning with Gyllenhaal’s episode on July 11 at 9 p.m.

Falling Skies debuted to huge numbers on TNT Sunday night, garnering 5.9 million viewers and setting the mark as the most-watched cable premiere of the year.

Thomas Gibson has signed a contract that keeps him the star of Criminal Minds for two more seasons.

Beau Bridges will guest star on an episode of White Collar. He will play the agent that mentored Burke.

Pruitt Taylor Vince has landed the recurring role of Otis, a foreman at Hershel’s Farm, where much of The Walking Dead Season 2 action is set to take place.

Jon Hamm just signed a 3 year deal to stay on at Mad Men.

FX is continuing it’s movie rights purchasing by snatching up the rights to Green Lantern and Mr. Popper’s Penguins. FX recently bought the rights to The Hangover II, Super8, and X-Men: First Class.

Showtime’s Homeland has cast Brianna Brown. Brown will play Lynne Reed, a statuesque blonde, crowned Miss Ohio in 2009, who spent two years in the harem of Prince Farid Bin Abbud and who now works as his procurer, using her looks and smarts as commerce. Her character does not view herself as a prostitute but as someone who is setting herself up for a secure life.

Terry O’Quinn will join the cast of Hawaii Five-0 next season in a recurring role. O’Quinn will be playing a Navy Seal Lt. Commander who trained Alex O’Loughlin’s McGarrett in Coronado. O’Quinn’s character also and served with McGarrett’s father in Vietnam. The character is said to hold some clues to helping McGarrett solve the murder of his mother and father.

Josh Cooke will join the cast of Dexter. Cooke will play the recurring role of Louis Greene, a new lab intern at Miami Metro and a buddy of fellow forensics nerd Masuka’s.

Comedy Central has decided not to renew Sports Show with Norm MacDonald and Onion SportsDome, both of which have already wrapped their respective first seasons.

CBS made a deal to keep the Grammys on the channel through 2021.

Scott Rosenbaum has signed on to pen the pilot script for Port Royal, Gale Anne Hurd’s hourlong pirate drama at FX.

David Goyer will executive produce a live action adaptation of the comic book 100 Bullets for Showtime. The series follows the story of Agent Graves, a mysterious man who finds people who’ve had terrible things done to them and offers them a gun, a dossier of information, and 100 untraceable bullets to settle the score, if they so please. Over the course of the series, it’s revealed that all of these moral questions and killings are tied to a major crime syndicate.
