Damages fans, get ready. The new season starts tomorrow night. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, Damages revolves around the brilliant yet ruthless lawyer, Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), her protégée, Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne), and the law firm, Hewes & Associates. Each season features a major case that Hewes and her firm takes on, while also examining a chapter of the complicated relationship between Ellen and Patty. This season the major case revolves around a security firm working in Afghanistan. Here’s the season’s synopsis.
Two years after the Tobin case, Ellen has moved on with her life. Now an attorney at her old mentor’s firm, she’s content with her cases and colleagues. Deep down, however, she wants a bigger challenge. When she discovers her high school sweetheart has been through a traumatic experience while working for High Star, a private security firm hired by the U.S. government to carry out special missions in Afghanistan, she suspects foul play and asks Patty for help. Patty knows that trying a case against High Star can make Ellen’s career. Or ruin it.
John Goodman joins the cast this season as Howard T. Erickson. Founder and C.E.O. of High Star Security Corporation, Erickson makes a fortune supplying the U.S. Government with security forces in Afghanistan and is protected by his connections to the highest echelons of power in Washington, D.C. Fiercely loyal to his country, he proves to be a formidable opponent for Patty and Ellen. If you missed Goodman in this season of Treme, I’m sure Damages will fulfill your need. He is truly a great actor. Chris Messina and Dylan Baker have also signed up for the fourth season.
