Here’s your Daily for 8/29/2011.

Jordana Spiro has joined the cast of Dexter for a multi-episode arc in which she will play a follower of Colin Hanks’ Travis and Edward James Olmos’ Professor Gellar.

Tom Berenger, Powers Boothe and Mare Winningham have joined the miniseries Hattfields and McCoys, starring Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton as the famed leaders of the feuding families. THR has more about their roles.

A&E’s Bag of Bones miniseries just added Jason Priestly to its cast, playing the main character’s literary agent. The miniseries is based on a Stephen King novel about a writer (Pierce Brosnan) trying to recover from the death of his wife while staying at their lakeside retreat in Maine, where he begins to realize she still has something to tell him.

Bad news improv fans. Drew Carey recently tweeted that Game Show Network declined to pick up any more episodes of Drew Carey’s Improv-a-ganza.

NBC has picked up the rights to Israeli drama Pillars of Smoke. The drama is a mystery set in the rural Golan Heights area of Israel that follows the police investigation into the disappearance of a cult form the area. A serialized drama on NBC? I give it a snowball’s chance in hell of surviving (if it makes it to air).

Ron Moore has sold a western drama to ABC. The series is entitled Hangtown. It is described as a Western with procedural elements that takes place in a frontier town in the early 1900s grappling with the development of the railroad. The potential series would revolve around the Marshal who solves crimes by instinct; an East Cost crime-solving doctor who relies on emerging forensics; and a young woman who writes about crime in the Wild West.

Courtney Thorne-Smith is set to reprise her role on CBS’ Two and a Half Men. She last appeared in a 10 episode arc as a love interest for Jon Cryer’s Alan. Judy Greer will also join the cast this season as Ashton Kutcher’s character’s ex-wife.

Mekhi Phifer and Cheech Marin will stop by for an episode of Psych this season. Phifer will play a member of Gus’ college a cappella group and Marin will play his mentor.

Cee-Lo is set to appear as himself on an episode of Parenthood this year as Adam and Crosby open up a studio.

NBC has released the first promo that features James Spader in his new role on The Office. Watch it below.

Disney Channel has renewed Good Luck Charlie for a third season. The show revolves around a teenage girl who makes video diaries about her family for her baby sister.

Fred Willard is set to appear on an episode of The Closer. In the episode, Willard will depict the owner of a Christmas Village where a serious casualty occurs on a zip line.

ABC has announced the cast for the next season of Dancing With the Stars. They are: Chaz Bono, Nancy Grace, Ricki Lake, Rob Kardashian, David Arquette, Ron Artest, Kristin Cavallari, J.R. Martinez, Hope Solo, Elisabetta Canalis, Chynna Phillips, and Carson Kressley.

Chad Michael Murray has closed a deal to return during the One Tree Hill’s upcoming ninth and final season. Hilarie Burton, his on screen wife, will not be returning.

Jason Dohring will recur as Mr. Carpenter, a high school teacher at the new school attended by Juliet, the stepdaughter of Manhattan socialite Siobhan Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar), on The Ringer.
