Weekender: Tricia Helfer, The Simpsons, The Good Wife, Sarah Silverman and More!

Here’s your weekender for 8/19 – 8/21/2011.

Tricia Helfer has landed a recurring role on the NBC series The Firm. Helfer plays Alex Clark, the senior partner of Kinross & Clark, who brings Mitch in as a partner.

Molly Shannon is set to guest star as Patricia Heaton’s onscreen sister on ABC’s The Middle.

Steve Carell, Johnny Depp, and Sting have already been announced as guest stars on Life’s Too Short. Now the show has added Liam Neeson and Helena Bonham Carter to the list.

Joel Gretsch will recur throughout season one of The Playboy Club as an adversary for Eddie Cibrian’s Nick Dalton.

William Atherton will guest star on Castle. The Ghostbusters and Real Genius actor will play a “life-extension researcher,” according to the network, named Dr. Ari Weiss. An expert in cryogenic freezing, Castle and Beckett will seek his help when they come across a murder scene.

Bryan Cranston will guest star on an episode of The Simpsons. He will play Stradivarius Cane, a “suave Hollywood superspy.” The twist in the story? Cane is a figment of Homer’s imagination.

Joey McIntyre will guest-star on the Oct. 14 installment of CBS’ CSI: NY as “a man that ends up in a shooting” that involves one of the Crime Scene team members.

Carla Gugino has landed the lead in TNT’s Hide, an upcoming telepic based on Lisa Gardner’s crime novel about a Boston detective’s search for six missing women.

Daniela Ruah’s NCIS: LA character, Agent Kensi, will cross over to fellow CBS crime procedural Hawaii Five-0 this fall.

UFC is moving to Fox and FX, with Spike TV canceling its long-running reality hit The Ultimate Fighter.

Katheryn Winnick has landed a key role on season two of Nikita as the partner Nikita left behind years ago when she left Division. She will appear in at least one episode.

Josh Groban will play Andy’s brother during an episode in the upcoming eighth season of The Office where his family comes to visit.

Parker Posey will guest star in an episode of The Good Wife as Eli’s ex-wife.

Lady Gaga will open up the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards on August 28th.

There’s some temporary reprieve for Saved by the Bell fans. It seems TBS will start airing the teen sitcom on Sundays from 6-8am.

TLC has canceled LA Ink. I’m sure everyone is extremely saddened by this news.

Lie to Me alumna Kelli Williams has lined up a guest spot on The Mentalist‘s upcoming fourth season as a woman who once hired Simon Baker’s Jane during his days as a pretend psychic.

NBC has committed to produce a pilot for the single-camera comedy project, which will star Sarah Silverman as a woman readjusting to single life following a decadelong live-in relationship.
