HBO has officially ordered Aaron Sorkin’s show More As This Story Develops to series. The show will take viewers behind the scenes of a fictional cable news show hosted by Jeff Daniels, as the program’s staff sets out on a “patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements,” according to a press release.
Daniels will play a divisive Bill O’Reilly cable news host and Emily Mortimer will play his no-nonsense stage manager. Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Alison Pill and Sam Waterston are also attached to the project.
This will be the third behind-the-scenes of a tv show series that Sorkin has created. He was also responsible for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which took a look at what went into creating an SNL-like show, and Sports Night, which was a look at the a fictional Sports Center type program. He also created The West Wing and wrote the screenplay for The Social network.
