NBC Cancels The Playboy Club, Orders Whitney and Up All Night

Well, this is unfortunate for fans of NBC’s The Playboy Club. The network announced today that it has canceled the low-rated ’60s set drama. The show, starring Eddie Cibrian and Amber Heard, chronicled the goings-on at the infamous Playboy Club in 1960s Chicago.

It’s unfortunate. I thought the show was pretty decent and had a real chance to become a great drama. Unfortunately, people didn’t tune in. If this cancelation has you mad at NBC, just wait… The network ordered a full season of Whitney. Yes, I’m serious.

NBC also ordered a full season of Up All Night.

Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment Chairman, stated, “We’re thrilled with the creative direction of both shows as well as the potential for them to continue to build loyal audiences over the coming months. We’re proud of all of the producers, writers, actors, and directors who have worked so hard to bring these shows to life.”
