Sons of Anarchy Renewed for a 5th Season

FX has good news for SAMCRO. The boys you love (or hate) will be back for a 5th season.

The 5th season, consisting of 13 episodes, will premiere in the summer of 2012. The show revolves around a motorcycle club, The Sons of Anarchy, in California and deals with the struggles of the individual members, family, criminal activity, and rivalries with other motorcycle gangs.

“Everyone at FX is very grateful to Kurt Sutter, his many writing, directing and producing collaborators and his masterful cast for making such a compelling and beautifully crafted show,” FX president and GM John Landgraf said in a statement announcing the news.

“It is no small challenge to bring the themes of a great, ancient play like Hamlet into a wholly original television setting and to tell this complex story in a way that is both riveting and accessible to a broad audience,” he added. “The fans know how beautifully SOA meets this challenge, and we thank them for their loyal and passionate viewership.”

Sutter recently told the press that he sees the series running for seven seasons.

Season 4 is currently airing on Tuesday nights at 10/9c on FX.
