Aaron Sorkin’s new HBO series The Newsroom debuted to solid ratings Sunday night, bringing in 2.1 million viewers. If you missed the pilot, HBO is letting you watch it online for free on Youtube.
The Newsroom gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional nightly cable news program. It stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer and Sam Waterston.
If you’re a fan of Aaron Sorkin and his other work, such as SportsNight, The West Wing, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, you will, no doubt, like The Newsroom. It hasthe traditional sharp, fast-paced dialogue that has become a signature Sorkin staple mixed with the drama of the behind the scenes look into a program (a la SportsNight and Studio 60).
The pilot, in my opinion, is Sorkin at his best, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully many more seasons to come.
